Racing Results and Records

Many records have been set and held by riders of Lightning Bicycles. Here are a few highlights:

  • First HPV to break 50, 55, and 60 mph (3 consecutive years)
  • Low altitude top speed record of 64.2 mph (X2)
  • Seattle to Portland record holder - 192 miles in 7-1/2 hours (26 mph average)
  • San Francisco to Los Angeles record - 400 miles in 18 hours
  • Race Across America record holder, 2910 miles in 5 days, 1 hour (24 mph average)
  • Winner of four stages in the 1995 Paris-Brest-Paris
